Riddle: A stair to there and to nowhere.
The concept of “no”/“nothing”/“nowhere” is tricky and hard to define in the built environment—how to use something to talk about nothing?
The interpretation of “no” is not the mathematical zero. Instead, the question mark “?” is the response to the riddle - to nowhere. Disoriented or getting lost is going to nowhere, as the place has no meaning to the person. The representation communicates the understanding of disorientation by having threads in infinite directions. The rotation is achieved by the increments of the risers with the fasteners and tension. The fasteners are pinching one side of the treads while pushing away the opposite side. By manipulating the increment and the position of the holes, the treads rotated in the x, y, and z-axis and formed a Möbius strip-like path.
